Canary Research ("Canary," "we," "us") provides behavioral friction audits for direct-to-consumer brands. This policy explains what data we collect through canary-research.com, how we use it, and the third parties involved. We keep data collection minimal and we do not sell personal information.
What we collect
- URLs you submit to the Friction Score tool. When you paste a page URL into our free scanner, we fetch that public page and analyze it. We do not require an account and we do not ask for non-public URLs.
- Email address & website, when you choose to provide them. If you request a quote, request an audit, or submit a contact form, we collect the email address and any details you enter.
- Usage analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 and Vercel Analytics to understand aggregate site traffic (pages viewed, referrer, approximate region, device type). These tools may set cookies.
How we use it
- To generate the Friction Score and audit findings you requested.
- To respond to quote requests, audit requests, and contact messages.
- To understand and improve site performance in aggregate.
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.
Third-party processors
To deliver the service we share limited data with the following processors:
- AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google). When you submit a URL, the public page content and a screenshot of that page are sent to these providers to produce the analysis. They process this input to return findings; review their respective policies for details on their handling.
- Vercel — website hosting and analytics.
- Google Analytics — aggregate usage analytics.
- Web3Forms — delivery of contact / quote-request form submissions.
- Stripe — payment processing, if and when you purchase an audit. Card details are handled entirely by Stripe; Canary never sees or stores full card numbers.
Data retention
We retain submitted URLs, generated reports, and contact details only as long as needed to deliver the service and maintain our records. You may request deletion of your personal information at any time by emailing us at the address below.
Your choices
- You can use most of the site without submitting any personal information.
- You can decline analytics cookies through your browser settings or an ad/tracker blocker.
- You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us.
This policy may be updated as the service evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above.
